Understanding Caregiver Needs: HOPe Partners with Stonehill College for Children’s Respite Research Project
House of Possibilities (HOPe) has been a vital resource for families of children with disabilities since 2009, providing non-emergency overnight respite care at its respite facility in Easton, MA. This service not only provides caregivers with the necessary break to focus on their well-being but also allows children with social and recreational opportunities through engaging sleepovers with peers. Over the years, HOPe has proudly supported over 1,000 children throughout the state.
With the noticeable decline in overnight respite demand following the COVID-19 pandemic, HOPe is committed to understanding the evolving needs of families. To achieve this, HOPe has partnered with Stonehill College to conduct an IRB-approved research study. Under the guidance of Dr. Danielle Waldron, students studying disability will assist in gathering valuable insights into the challenges faced by caregivers. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that HOPe’s respite services remain aligned with community needs.
This research project will take place throughout 2024, with the results being presented in December of 2024.
